17 aspirants make it in JJLHS On The Spot Poster Making Contest finals

Students from all year levels who qualified for the JJLHS On The Spot Poster Making Contest will be put to a test live on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 10 a.m. via Google Meet.

A total of 17 students have qualified after advisers from different year levels held an elimination process for those who took part last week. These students were the best of the best in their respective classes and this time, their skill set will be shown real time, in the event organized by the JJLHS Alumni Association in cooperation with the school administration headed by Principal Adora Teaño with Silver Jubilarian Batch 96 serving as social media partner.

Among those who qualified were Shadhikilyn Danielle D. Ariate (10- Amethyst), Princess Anne Trilles (7- Maunawain), Jhay Anne C. Gapol (7 – Maunawain), Franzine Mesina (10-Amber), Shelby Jean dela Cruz (10- Amber), Princess Kate Alvero (10–Amber), Andrew Paul S. Santos (10-Pearl), Adrian Ongtingco (9-Argon), Bhyron Macadangdang (9-Argon), John Rain Doctolero (9– Argon), Mart Anthony Tuando (8-Narra), Kurt Andrei Capillo (7-Mapagbigay), James S. Estrada (10-Pearl), Janelle Obando (7-Masigasig), Claire M. Omli (8-Molave), Sean Andrew Canlas (8-Dao), Mariane C. Santonia (8-Tanguile).

The panel of judges who will select the top three winners are Francisco Capile Jr., Ma. Unica Real Encinares and Christopher Gutierrez, all graduates of Judge Juan Luna High School Class 1996, Ditas David-Santos, also an alumnae of JJLHS Class 1980 and Lisandro Favila.

Mr. Capile’s works were featured in several exhibitions at key galleries and museums, including the Art Verite Gallery and the Galerie Stephanie. The artist’s first artwork will be offered in an auction at Leon Gallery in Makati this year in the Mutual Art’s artist press archive.

Ms. Real Encinares is an art lover, who graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics at University of the Philippines Diliman and took up her Master’s Degree at the Asian Institute of Management.

She also finds time to do graphic designs for her social media pages — Pet Cage Ph, Moda Myracle and Travels With Mommy.

Mr. Gutierrez is a video editor and graphic artist.

Ms. David-Santos used to serve the JJLHS Alumni Association as board of director and over the past 30 years, worked as paint animation checker of TOEI Animation Philippines.

Mr. Favila served as creative and events director for Spot Media Marketing, managing partner for Redwood Events Management, executive officer/director for FAME Inc. Health and Lifestyle Magazine and creative director for XPR Brand Communications.

The organizing group also released the criteria for the On The Spot Poster Making Contest broken down as follows:

Relevance To The Theme — 30%

Originality — 25%

Creativity — 20%

Color Harmony — 15%

Visual Impact — 10%

Total = 100%

After the On The Spot Poster Making Contest where participants will choose anyone from the two topics — Bangon! Hukom Juan Luna and Rise Up! JJLHS — an Essay Writing Contest for Filipino and English using the same themes will be conducted in a few weeks time.

The JJLHS Alumni Association will provide special prizes to the top three winners in each contest made possible by SMART Communications.
